  • four garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • ⅓ cup sherry
  • four packets pork bouillon granules
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch, or as wished
  • ⅓ cup cold water, or as needed
